Given the upswing in the popularity of tattoos over the past twenty years many people that got inked thinking each piece would be special and something they would be proud to display their entire life, sometime find that doesn’t wind up being true. As you can imagine, as people age their tastes often change and that ink no matter how beautiful may be isn’t something that always want visible.

No makeup is completely transfer proof. You may find that the makeup does rub off onto your clothes and it may not stay put in chlorinated water for long periods of time.

For those who cannot afford laser tattoo removal or are in the process of getting it done and don’t want to show their ‘fading tattoo’ to public , Tattoo cover up (Hide Ink)  is a great option.  If you can’t see them means the rest of the world can’t see them either!

How to Apply Hide Ink?

When concealing a tattoo with Tattoo over up  (Hide Ink) please wash the area with soap and water and make sure that the area that you are going to conceal is clean, dry and free of hair.

1. Cut ‘Hide Ink’ to fit application area size and shape, then remove the clear protective top sheet without touching the adhesive part.

2. Press the ‘Hide Ink’ firmly onto clean skin with colour/adhesive part facing down.

3. Hold wet tissue or cloth against the back of  ‘Hide Ink’ , press down and make sure to wet it thoroughly.

4. Wait 30 seconds . Peel off paper backing and gently rinse the area with warm water for best effect.

5. You may need to apply a second cover over the first due to the boldness of the colours of some tattoos. The instructions on the back of the cover explain how to do this. To even out the ‘Hide Ink’ tattoo cover with the rest of your skin, you may apply make up powder to ‘blend in’ or tanning spray over it.

Once applied, the cover(s) should last for a few days. The tattoo cover appears shiny & “Cracky” at first due to the “Slip Layer” which keeps the tattoo cover from sticking to the protective plastic sheet.

This shiny & “Cracky” appearance goes away over the first several hours and as the ink sets, the tattoo cover will blend in better with your skin. The cover(s) will look and feel more like your skin and cover better by the second day.

Depending on where the tattoo is located and your skin type, some cracking may appear. Apply cover while skin is in a semi-stretched position to help lessen this effect.

If there is hair on the tattoo skin area, shaving the application area may help lessen cracking also. Please make sure your skin is Clean, Cool, Dry and in a semi-stretched position (but not too stretched) when you apply the cover(s). Then make sure you leave it alone for the first hour so it has time to cure. After that it should be very hard to get off. If it cracks, don’t worry, it usually looks better after a while and gets even better by the next day as the ink sets in.

If you store your covers in a room with a dry temperature and low humidity between 45 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, they will keep un-changed for at least a year. If they are kept in hot or humid conditions they will not keep as long. Once they are applied, the temperature and humidity won’t affect them.

These covers are not meant to be a perfect match to all skin tones and types. They are an easy and convenient way to cover your tattoos with no mess or hassle. They are both waterproof and comfortable. If you need them to blend in better with your skin tone because you are using them for a special occasion, you could use foundation or spray on tan over the cover to match your skin better. This also gives a smoother appearance and covers any cracking

Once you have applied the cover(s), do not touch them for a while, give them time to completely dry. Depending on the humidity and temperature the “curing” time may vary. If you have oily skin, clean the application area with rubbing alcohol before applying tattoo cover.

Q: What can I do if the Hide Ink Tattoo Cover’s shade does not match my skin tone exactly?

A: Hide Ink Tattoo Covers may not blend perfectly with the skin as skin tones vary from person to person. For the most part, our covers will match well enough to provide an easy, quick, economic way to adhere to company policies for no visible tattoos on a daily basis.  If you are going to use it for a special occasion, try it before-hand to make sure you like the way it looks on you. Leave it on for 24 hours and see at which point it matches your skin tone the best as the appearance may vary slightly over time. Many people who use them for special occasions will use makeup over the cover to blend it to their individual skin color.

Be sure not to use “oil based” makeup over it as some oils will remove the cover. Also, the “rounder” the shape you cut the cover into before applying it, the less noticeable it is. Corners on a square cover tend to catch the eyes attention a little more than a circular shape.
